In a recent study, it has been reasearched the use of the extract of bitter orange aiding weight loss. Bitter orange essential oils is known in aromatherapy for its many properties:
- As an antispasmodic and sedative;
- As astringent;
- as a cardiac and circulatory tonic;
- as an iad in relieving gastric spasms
- beneficial in improving the condition of insomnia.
I personally like it a lot because of its bitter aroma that makes it - from an olfactory point of view - interesting and very different from the essential oil of sweet orange.
It seems that the essential oil of bitter orange has a double function: it takes away the feeling of hunger and, at the same time, stimulates the metabolism .
For the purpose of aiding weight loss it can be used in a diffuser (5-10 drops of essential oil, depending on the dimensions of your room).
It can also be used in a massage: blend a few drops of orange bitter essential oil in a vegetable carrier oil such as hazelnut or apricot kernel, and focus on the areas of greater adiposity.
Be careful not to expose yourself to the sun, because this essential oil is a photosensitizer.
The orange bitter tree benefits us with two other essential oils: the essential oil of Petitgrain Bigarade (leaves), and the essential oil of Neroli (flowers). All these essences are largely used in perfumery for their fresh and rich aroma and in food and liquor receipes.
