When life let's you down, regenerate yourself like a Phoenix

In Greek mythology a Phoenix is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn.
Associated with the sun, a Phoenix obtain new life from the ashes of its predecessor.
 
You might have seen the quite inpressive miracle of a Phoenix rising from its ashes in one of the Harry Potter Movies ("Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix").
 
Sometimes life gives us debilitating blows: job losses, break-ups, fights, health issues, disagreements with friends or family members ....I am sure everyone of us could add a few more examples to this list.
 
Coming back after a set back can be a difficult and lenghty process.
 
In these circumstances I always found great help and comfort in the Phoenix example: I look at this mythological bird as the symbol of raising from any difficult situation and always moving forward.
 
To help yourself in getting back on your feet the first step is to know that no matter what mistakes yuo might have made or what setbacks have held you down, you are worthy, you are worthy of  the love and respect of the most important person in your life: you.
 
It also helps to chase out of your mind recurring thoughts of what you should have done better or differently. This kind of thinking weights you down and as you cannot change the past, is psycologically destructive.
 
Whenever negative thoughts come back replace them with positive affirmations:
"I love and accept myself unconditionally".
  • "I am a unique and a very special person and worthy of respect from others".
  • "I consciously release the past and live only in the present. That way I get to enjoy and experience life to the full".
  •  
    It is also important to do something to treat yourself: get your hair done, go for a walk in the park, take a course, go to the library and get some new books to read, do something that makes you feel good that is not addicitve or dangerous.
     
    Holistic treatments can be very helpful in overcoming setbacks and supporting you thorugh difficult emotional moments in your life.
    Aromatherapy  treatments for example can be highly beneficial as some essential oils  (grapefruit, lemon and lavander just to mention a few )  have uplifting and soothing properties and can give you a mood boost.
    You can diffuse them, add them to the water in a bath or use them in a massage.
     
    Whatever step forward you might be taken to overcome this hurdle, however, remember that you must first believe in yourself.
