I have been interested in Holistic Health and practised as a Certified Aromatherapist for many years and from the very beginning I offered essential oils blends to my clients in a variety of ways with each treatment.
Aromatherapy can assist with relaxation and calming, reducing stress, lowering pain, tension, anxiety, and depression, and can also be energizing, uplifting, sedating or stimulating, promote health, heal injuries, improve the immune system, and restore physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Many oils have antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal qualities.
Essential oils are highly complex substances. They are mosaics of hundreds and thousands of different natural chemicals. The average essential oil may contain anywhere from 80 to 400 known chemical constituents.
Essential oils can be processed in different ways, which dramatically affects their chemistry and properties.
Oils that have been re-distilled two or three times are not as potent as oils that have been distilled only once. Also, oils that are subjected to high heat and pressure in processing have an inferior profile of chemical constituents, since excessive heat and temperature fractures and breaks down many of the delicate aromatic compounds within the oil that are responsible for much of the therapeutic action of the oil.
Of even greater importance is the fact that some oils are thinned or cut (i.e. adulterated) with synthetic chemicals, often petroleum derivatives. This is why purchasing quality essential oils is paramount.
As an holistic practitioner, working with essential oils not only greatly benefits my clients, but I too benefit from inhaling the diffused oils as well as the oils absorbing into my skin.
Incorporating therapeutic essential oils into a holistic practice is an excellent way to differentiate yourself from other practitioners, benefit the wellbeing of your clients, and benefit you, the practitioner, by keeping your hands in good working shape, purifying your air and absorbing the oils to keep you healthy and free from inflammation.
You can also consider using essential oils in your waiting room. The aromas will relax and make your clients more receptive to the benefits of your treatments.
My passion about sharing my knowledge and experience in Aromatherapy, inspired me to create an ONLINE COURSE: "HEALING AROMAS - an introduction to the healing benefits of essential oils".
My hope is that this Aromatherapy course will help as many people as possible in better understanding essential oils , including Holistic Health practitioners who wish to avail themselves of the oils to enrich their practice, essential oils distributor and wellness ambassadors who want to acquire solid knowledge to support their business.
